Overview
There's a real difference between 'semi-custom' cabinetry and shop-built custom, and on the right project, it's the difference worth paying for.
Semi-custom cabinets are an excellent product for 80% of kitchens. KCMA-certified, plywood-box, soft-close hardware, real wood doors, painted in a factory line. They're priced sharply because they're built to standard widths in 3-inch increments, and any opening that doesn't conform gets a filler strip.
Shop-built custom is what you reach for when the room won't conform: an 11-foot wall with no convenient combination of stock widths, a 19-inch-deep niche that needs an inset cabinet, a wet bar with a 27-inch bottle drawer, a library wall with a desk module integrated, a window-seat with storage drawers below. Anywhere the design beats the catalog, shop-built wins.
Modern Window Solutions partners with a Broward-based cabinet shop that's been building for our clients for years. Lead time is typically 9 to 12 weeks (vs 5 to 7 for semi-custom), pricing is roughly 30 to 50% higher, and the difference shows up in fit, in finish, and in how the room feels finished instead of furnished.
What We Build
Kitchens, baths, built-ins, libraries, bars, mudrooms.
Construction: 3/4" plywood boxes, dovetailed drawer boxes (not stapled), full-extension undermount soft-close glides, soft-close hinges, real-wood face frames where the door style calls for it, and shop-applied conversion-varnish or 2K polyurethane finishes.
Door styles: flat-slab modern, shaker overlay, shaker inset, beaded inset, traditional raised-panel, any door we can draw, the shop can build. Veneer matched and grain-sequenced on stain-grade door faces.
Finishes: painted (any color), stained (any species), or natural-clear over premium veneer. Two-tone schemes (paint upper, stain lower) handled cleanly with separate dry times.
Built-in furniture: media walls, libraries with rolling ladders, home-office desk and shelving, wet bars with refrigeration cut-ins, mudroom benches with hooks and lockers, fireplace surrounds with flanking cabinetry.
We integrate cabinetry with the rest of the renovation we're already doing, there's no second contractor to coordinate, no second project manager, and no second permit.
